Focus Design Partners has been appointed to design the expansion of the Al Uqda Equestrian Complex, further strengthening one of Qatar's leading equestrian venues. Covering nearly 978,000 sqm, the project introduces new sporting, training, and support facilities that incrase the complex's capacity and enhance its ability to host major regional and international equestrian events.

Located just outside Al Khor City, the Al Uqda Equestrian Complex is a key asset of the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC), a longestablished institution that organizes regular racing seasons and highp-ofile competitions on both the Al Rayyan and Al Uqda racecourses. The venue has already proven its capability to host significant events, including the finale of the HH The Amir Sword Festival, which was successfully held at Al Uqda with full operational readiness, underscoring its event capacity and competitive environment.

The design introduces crucial upgrades across the facility, including an extended racecourse, underground tunnel, new grandstand, and broadcast facilities that will elevate the event experience.

This award reflects Qatar’s strategic investment in sports as a platform for global engagement. Following successful global events such as the FIFA World Cup and elite equestrian competitions, the development of Al Uqda reinforces the nation’s role as a host for diverse international sporting disciplines.
