As Qatar continues to strengthen its environmental and scientific infrastructure, the Environmental Laboratory facility represents a strategic investment in the systems that safeguard public health, ecological resilience, and sustainability. The facility supports critical national programs in environmental monitoring, scientific analysis, and pollutant management. The intervention introduces specialized laboratory environments alongside operational, administrative, and staff-support spaces, carefully designed to optimize workflow, safety, and adaptability.
Beyond technical performance, the design was conceived as an environment conducive to scientific inquiry, balancing critical laboratory requirements with an ergonomic spatial approach that prioritizes efficiency, wellbeing, and functionality. Sustainability was embedded into the project’s design, reflecting the facility’s broader mission through responsible material strategies and environmentally conscious building systems.
Our scope encompassed the architectural design and engineering of a major extension to the existing Environmental Laboratories in Mesaimeer, expanding the facility to approximately 1,950 sqm and enhancing its capacity to support advanced research and regulatory oversight.
