As part of the western expansion of Hamad International Airport, the project delivered the design integration of a Virtual Tower and Surface Movement Radar system to support the growing complexity of airside operations. Introduced to overcome line-of-sight limitations across the expanded western taxiway and stand developments, the systems enhance real-time surveillance, operational safety, and air traffic operations without needing additional physical control tower infrastructure.
We handled the multidisciplinary design and coordination of architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical design packages to accommodate the integration of HIA’s upgraded aviation technologies. The scope was developed in collaboration with an aviation specialist, who supported the design and master-planning process to ensure compliance with international aviation standards and alignment with applicable regulatory requirements and authority approvals.
